We've tracked some of these openings and eaten our way through some as well! Here are some restaurants that defined Raleigh's food scene in 2025 (plus some looking to dominate in 2026).
We curate these picks based on a mix of personal visits, local community feedback, review sentiment online, and what we're hearing from our readers.
We also factor in diversity, neighborhood spread, and price range so this list caters to everyone. Every restaurant here earned its place for a variety of reasons and rankings are (of course) subjective.

Opening in October 2025, this European Coffee & Wine Bar offers a genuine experience, focused on the highest quality wines and wine pairings. One of our favorite things about Vino is the outdoor seating area, which also has fire pits you can circle up around with your friends.
They partner with Black & White Coffee Roasters (find them downtown a well) and start serving at 10AM daily. We recommend that you park on W. Johnson St and back into the neighborhood across St. Marys St where allowed as well, Gaston Street can be a bit cramped.
Overall, Vino is one of the most promising new spots here in Raleigh and it's just far enough off the main Glenwood South strip to offer a fairly laid back experience.
🍷 Unique Wine Finds: Vino specializes in rare, hard-to-find wines often not seen at other Raleigh spots.
🔥 Fire Pit Appeal: Cozy outdoor fire pits with warm blankets are perfect for chilly evenings, especially popular after sunset.
☕ Coffee Excellence: Coffee at Vino rivals top roasters locally and is a standout even among wine offerings.
🪑 Variety Seats: Comfortable leather booths and bar seating provide options for both intimate dates and small groups.

🍇 Wine Flights Perfection: Ideal for newcomers and connoisseurs alike to sample and discover new favorites.
🔥 Patio Seating Comfort: Outdoor heaters make the patio enjoyable even on chilly evenings—perfect for dog owners.
⏰ Reservation Perks: Booking ahead is recommended, especially for dinner and weekend visits to ensure preferred seating.
🍟 Must-Try Bites: Truffle fries and mushroom pasta are fan favorites and highly recommended by regulars.

Peregrine, Lawrence Barbecue, Mala Pata, Jalwa, Boatman Spirits, and Omakase by Kai lead the pack.
